Latinx Salud Poems:  An Inaugural Collection

Stand

My flesh, my mind, bear the scars
Earned in battles lost and battles won.
Yet, I scaled the walls of the Tower,
Holding steadfast to the edges,
And I Stood Strong.

I will hold my successes,
Learn from my failures.
I will hold that wall.
I will stand strong.

No matter, those that wish me ill,

Those that believe me beneath their notice.
I will hold to that wall.
I will stand strong.

Push me, Pull me,
I will not let loose.
I will stand strong.

Before me, for me, many bled, sweated and cried,
Left their homes, their families, their lands.
They hold me up, con su fuerza, they keep me strong.
So, I will not let go of that wall, as they did not.

I must stand strong, as they did before me.
There is much to do.
My life and my scars aid with my task.
I must stand for the next generation,
I must bleed, sweat and cry.

I must stand strong
So that they can stand stronger.
I will stand strong.
